^w^ There is no effective shark repellent, despite fifty years of research.

^w^ One of the most promising repellents is a detergent that temporarily paralyzes the shark's gills.  The detergent is similar to a natural substance found in the Moses Sole, a Red Sea fish that secretes paradaxin.

^w^ The Neptunic, popular with some divers, is a chain mail suit composed of interlocking rings that are too small for a shark tooth to penetrate.  KevlarŪ is used to protect divers' bones.

^w^ The greatest protection that divers have to date, aside from staying out of the water, is the shark cage.
